- What is meridian?
- meridian is a multi-city weather dashboard and UK place-forecast site. Check live conditions, hourly and longer outlooks, pin places in your browser, and optionally subscribe to digests or alerts.
- How accurate are the forecasts?
- No consumer forecast is perfect. Near-term hours are usually more reliable than day nine. meridian shows OpenWeather data with clear tabs so you can lean on hourly detail when plans are close, and treat the far end of a 10-day view as a direction of travel.
- Where does the weather data come from?
- OpenWeather supplies the underlying observations and forecasts. meridian formats, caches, and presents that data. Icons are local Meridian/Meteocon assets mapped from OpenWeather condition codes.
- Do you cover the whole UK?
- You can search worldwide. We also maintain a seeded set of UK /weather place pages for SEO and local context. Coverage quality depends on OpenWeather for that lat/lon — not on a separate Meridian climate model.
- Why do I see ads?
- Ads help fund the free tier. The AdSense script loads only after you accept advertising consent. Without consent, you see branded placeholders or an ad-free layout depending on configuration.
- What does the cookie banner control?
- Essential storage keeps your cities and preferences. Functional consent allows weather cache in localStorage. Analytics and advertising are optional and off until you opt in.
- How do email digests and alerts work?
- Digests are calm weekly summaries for places you follow. Alerts fire when thresholds you configure are crossed. Both are opt-in and include unsubscribe links. Availability depends on an email connector being configured on the host.
- Do I need an account?
- No account is required to search, pin places locally, or read forecasts. Admin login is for operators only. Email features use the address you provide for that mailing list.
- What are /weather place pages?
- They are location pages with live conditions for a named place, plus optional things-to-do from OpenStreetMap and any published Meridian guide. Thin auto-generated filler guides are not published for advertising review.
- Can I remove ads?
- Yes, when Stripe billing is configured: Settings → Remove ads. If billing is not available on the host, the UI says so rather than offering a broken checkout.
- Why are there multiple languages?
- The interface chrome is translated for several locales. Editorial pages for AdSense review emphasise English (en / en-GB). Weather numbers still come from OpenWeather with a matching language where supported.
- How do I contact you?
